USS Westfield
The USS Westfield was a sidewheel steamer purchased 22 November 1861, commissioned January 1862 and assigned to the West Gulf Blockading Squadron 18 March 1862. She participated in the Battle of Forts Jackson and St. Philip and the siege of Vicksburg. Later she was on blockade duty off the coast of Texas.
The Westfield was destroyed on orders by CDR William Renshaw to prevent her capture by Confederates during the Battle of Galveston on 1 January 1863.
Artifacts recovered from the Westfield are on display at the Texas City Museum.
