USS Rhode Island
The Rhode Island was a sidewheel steamer purchased 27 June 1861 and commissioned 29 July 1861. She was initially used as a supply ship servicing vessels along the Gulf Coast via New York and later attached to the West Gulf Squadron 17 April 1862. She ordered North 31 August 1862 by Farragut after yellow fever broke out among her crew.
