USS Portsmouth
The USS Portsmouth was a sloop-of-war ordered to the Gulf Blockading Squadron in December 1861, arriving off Ship Island 18 January 1862, and after the Battle of Forts Jackson and St. Phillip, spent the remainder of the war anchored in New Orleans as a receiving ship.
