USS Meteor
The USS Meteor was laid down as Tinclad No. 44 / Scioto in 1863; acquired December 1863; renamed Meteor on 21 December 1863; purchased on 23 January 1864 and commissioned in New Orleans on 8 March 1864 with Acting Master Meletiah Jordan commanding.
During that year, Meteor's station was a guard vessels off the coast of Louisiana.
On 10 February 1865, she was ordered to sail for Mobile Bay, where she remained until 12 September when she was decommissioned in New Orleans and sold at public auction on 5 October.
