USS Kanawha
The USS Kanawha was a Unadilla-class "90 day" gunboat that was launched 21 October 1861 and commissioned 21 January 1862, Lt. John C. Febiger commanding.
She was attached to the West Gulf Squadron, arriving off Pass a l'Outre, Louisiana 13 February 1862. Once on station, Kanawha was assigned to the Mobile Blockade where she distinguished herself by numerous captures of blockade runners as prizes. In the spring of 1864, she was moved to the Texas blockade, where she remained until ordered North on 27 May 1865. Kanawha was decommissioned 5 July 1864 and sold 13 June 1866.
