USS J. C. Kuhn
The USS J. C. Kuhn was a bark that was purchased by the Navy on 6 July 1861, outfitted as a warship and commissioned at the Brooklyn Navy Yard 23 August 1861, Acting Master Robert G. Lee commanding.
The J. C. Kuhn was assigned to the West Gulf Squadron as a supply and coal vessel, arriving off Fort Pickens 17 September 1861. She spent the war sailing between Pensacola and the blockading fleet delivering coal and stores until ordered North 20 January 1866.
