David H. Dauill

Acting Ensign, USS Arthur

An 1864 hospital ticket shows an acting Ensign David H. Dauill, age 31, from the USS Arthur was admitted to Naval Hospital Pensacola with "phthisis pulmonalis" (tuberculosis) on 25 March 1864. Dauill's ticket mentions he contracted yellow fever in Key West and was put back on duty "too soon" and ending up with a case of pneumonia from exposure to the weather which apparently progressed to tuberculosis.

Dauill died 14 April 1864 at Pensacola from his illness.[1]
